MyOffice Terms of Service
MyOffice is software you buy once and keep. These terms explain what you own, what we promise, and the few things we ask of you. They sit alongside the I Own Software general terms; where the two conflict on a MyOffice matter, this page governs. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.
1. Your licence
When you buy MyOffice you receive a perpetual licence to install and use the version you purchased, for as long as you like. It does not expire, it does not phone home for permission to run, and it does not stop working if you stop paying us anything. Updates and support are included for the period stated at purchase and may be renewed; if you let that lapse, the software you already have keeps working — you simply stop receiving new versions.
The licence is for your use (personal or business). Do not redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense the software, and do not attempt to circumvent its licensing.
2. Your documents are yours
MyOffice works with files on your own computer, in standard formats. We claim no rights over anything you create with it. There is no cloud account required to open your own documents, and nothing about our business model depends on holding your files hostage.
3. Connecting mail and other accounts
MyOffice Mail can connect to email accounts you already have — including Gmail and other IMAP/SMTP providers. A few things follow from that:
- You must have the right to access any account you connect.
- Your mail is fetched to, and stored on, your own computer. Connecting an account does not send your mail to us — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what does and does not leave your machine.
- Your use of a third-party mail service remains governed by that provider's terms. We cannot change what they allow, and we are not responsible for their availability or decisions.
- Access tokens and credentials for connected accounts are stored on your device. Keep your device secure; anyone with access to it may be able to read your mail.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use MyOffice to break the law, to infringe someone else's rights, to send unsolicited bulk mail, or to access accounts or systems you are not authorised to access.
5. Updates
While your update period is active, MyOffice may check for and install new versions. Updates are signed. We may change or remove features between versions, though we try hard not to break the way you work, and file-format compatibility is something we treat as a promise rather than a goal.
6. Support
Support is by email at support@iownsoftware.com during your support period. We do not offer a guaranteed response time at this stage, and we would rather say so than publish a number we cannot honour.
7. Refunds
If MyOffice does not work for you, contact us within 90 days of purchase and we will refund it. We would rather give your money back than have an unhappy customer. The full conditions, exclusions and request process are in the I Own Software Refund Policy, which governs refunds across all our products.
8. Warranties and liability
MyOffice is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, and our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for MyOffice. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Keep backups of your important documents — no software is bug-free, and that includes ours.
9. Termination
These terms apply for as long as you use MyOffice. We may terminate the licence if you materially breach them — for example by redistributing the software or circumventing licensing. Your perpetual licence is otherwise not something we can take away because you stopped paying for updates.
10. Changes
We may update these terms for future purchases and for the ongoing provision of updates and support. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Changes do not retroactively revoke the perpetual licence you already bought.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the courts serving Washington County, Utah. Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of protections that apply in their country of residence.
